Description
Bring Your Baby Guided London Walks are sensitively devised to suit parents and carers of even the tiniest babies to enjoy London’s history. We can stop whenever you like to feed and change - without the stress of feeling you are holding up the group.
You are welcome to bring friends and family who do not also have a baby.
Walk starts at Angel tube station & ends at Highbury & Islington tube station
With a stop after about an hour at The Alpaca pub for refreshment, and/or lunch and baby change. You are not obligated to buy food.
This walk is written and guided by City of London guide and co-author of 'Women from Hackney's History', Sue Doe.
On this walk:
- The square that was home to George Orwell, Evelyn Waugh, and Bloomsbury Group artists Vanessa Bell (sister of Virgina Woolf) and Duncan Grant
- The homes of Victorian children's books illustrator Kate Greenaway and comedian Gracie Fields
- The building which was once Collins' Music Hall
- The former home of playwright Joe Orton... who was murdered there by his boyfriend Kenneth Halliwell in 1967
- The house where Victorian painter Walter Sickert once lived
- Islington's watery past at The New River
- Colebrooke Cottage, once home of the Georgian writer Charles Lamb, a prolific writer who co-wrote childrens' book Tales from Shakespeare with his sister Mary Lamb. Both were troubled with mental health issues throughout their lives and in an out of mental institutions across London
- The former home of controversial Booker Prize-winning writer Salman Rushdie who lived in hiding
- Canonbury Tower, the oldest building in Islington
- Plus: Little Angel Theatre, The Union Chapel, The Islington Dispensary, WW2 bombs, Richard Cloudesley's grave and more

Important notes: - Children are the responsibility of the parent or guardian, and must be monitored by them at all times. - Refunds or requests to move to a future event or date must be requested within 24 hours of the event commencing so that we can try to refill the space in adequate time. - On occasion we take photos or short video clips at our 'Bring Your Baby Pub Quizzes' or 'Bring Your Baby Guided London Walks'. By attending you are giving your permission for these to be used for Bring Your Baby Ltd promotional purposes. Any individual who we have taken a photograph of and published can request that any photographs are removed and deleted at any time. Even if they have given consent when booking according to our terms and conditions, they can of course withdraw their consent and can contact us at the email provided. - At 'Bring Your Baby Pub Quizzes', we understand that the parent or guardian will want to keep sleeping babies close to their table in baby carriers (including, for example: prams, buggies or car seats). However if babies are awake we reserve the right to ask the parent or guardian to move their baby carrier into a designated area of the venue to meet health and safety requirements (such as clear access to fire exits and clear walkways).
